His paintings explore and challenge the balance between color, light, and texture. He begins with stained canvases, developing each painting by adding and removing dense layers of paint from its surface. Self-taught in painting his practice embraces a practice driven by curiosity, repetition, and routine.
Defterios studied design at the University of Southern California Roski School of Art and Design, and graduated in 2023. His studio is located in West Hollywood, California.
